Donald H. Dawson, Jr.
Don Dawson graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and acquired his Juris Doctorate from the South Texas College of Law. He has been licensed to practice law since 1974 and is admitted to practice in the states of Michigan and Texas.
Don began his legal career in Houston, Texas where he worked for five years with the Harris County Prosecutor’s Office, before moving to Michigan where he continued to work as a Prosecutor in Oakland County. Thereafter he went to work in private firms as a defense civil litigation attorney in the metro Detroit area, eventually forming his own firm, Dawson & Clark, P.C. Throughout his career as a defense attorney he has litigated and tried extremely complex matters in the areas of product liability (automotive and other), medical malpractice, as well as commercial, contract and employment disputes. As a result of his impressive trial record, clients have sought his services throughout the country. Don has litigated cases in 45 states and tried cases in 30 states.
Throughout his career he served as national counsel for automotive companies on cases involving the following issues: rollover, roof crush, seat back failure, transmission systems (park-to-reverse), fuel systems, side impact and general crashworthiness. He has litigated and tried many general litigation cases, both locally and nationally, involving complex issues such as cause and origin of fires. His medical malpractice experience includes trials relating to, among many other things, birth trauma. Finally, he represented a client on a massive class action with potential damages in the area of $2 billion.
Don’s lengthy and diverse experience as a civil defense attorney equip him with a unique advantage in litigating and trying cases on behalf of plaintiffs, allowing him to view cases from both perspectives to get his clients the best possible result.
Don has been married for 29 years and has four children. In his spare time he loves to play golf with his family and friends.
