Paragard IUD

Paragard is an IUD (an intrauterine birth control device) that utilizes copper rather than hormones. With a defective or broken device, a patient can suffer from all of the following, among others: pelvic pain, expulsion, infections, perforation of the uterus, and scarring.

Hernia Mesh

Hernia mesh is a flexible mesh that is used to support the weakened tissue from a hernia. Several types of hernia mesh products, including Atrium C-Qur, Ethicon Physiomesh, have been recalled due to painful and often disastrous side effects. Some of the common complications include pain, infection, perforation, and obstruction.

3M Defective MIlitary Earplug

Partial or total hearing loss has occurred to numerous members of the military as a result of defective 3M Combat Arms Earplugs. The issue was that these were too short for proper usage. They gradually loosened in the user's ears until they became useless. This company was aware of the design problems as early as 2,000, but they continued to be distributed to U.S. military members until 2015.

Syvnisc-One knee injection

Synvisc-One was approved by the FDA in 2009 for arthritic pain relief. Microbial contamination of the product, however, has been linked to patients suffering from numerous symptoms, including knee pain, fluid build up around the knee, and swelling. These symptoms can result in hospitalization and the need for treatment.

Bone Cement

Bone cement has been used to attach parts of a knee implant to human bone during a knee replacement surgery. Failure of the bone cement can occur, however, because the bond that the cement uses is often not as strong. Some of the side effects include persistent pain, new chronic pain, loosening, and instability.

Talc Ovarian Cancer

Talc powder has long been commonly used by women for hygiene purposes. Unfortunately, research has shown a link between talc and ovarian cancer. Talc is a natural mineral containing fine particles that can travel up to the ovaries. It has been shown to increases the risk of ovarian cancer from 2% to 33%.

Johnson & Johnson, the manufacturer of Baby Powder and Shower-to-Shower, has known about the dangers of talcum powder for more than 40 years, yet failed to warn customers and continued to promote it for hygienic use.

A class action suit is pending against Johnson & Johnson, but many women are filing separate lawsuits to cover damages that are not provided for under the class action suit. If you have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and you have a history of using talc powder, you may be eligible for damages.

IVC Filters

An inferior vena cava filter, or IVC filter, is a small cone-shaped device implanted in the largest vein in the body, located just below the kidneys. The device is designed to trap an embolism that may form in the legs, preventing the blood clot from reaching the heart and lungs.

These devices are intended to be removed after about two months. Unfortunately, they are often left in much longer, which can lead to serious complications. They can tear veins or organs, migrate to other areas of the body or break.

Defective Hip/Joint Replacements

If you received a hip implant or other joint replacement and are experiencing complications, you may be able to sue the manufacturer for damages. Metal-on-metal hip replacements may fail prematurely or cause an array of complications. One such complication would be metallosis. This is a condition that causes inflammation and erosion of the bone structure.
